Thread: Water Storage Container

    Default Water Storage Container

Looks like I will have access to getting 2 water storage containers from a guy at work. Not sure the size since he had no clue (I'm thinking around 30g - 50g range).....but they could come in handy. He did tell me they were used to hold either soap or a soapy solution for a car wash.

My question is if I can clean it pretty darn good with bleach (with subsequent rinsing to clean the bleach later), will they be useable for RO storage?

LOL yeah...just a matter of getting rid of any residue I suppose. Will have to wait and see until he brings one to work so I can actually check them out.

I would imagine as it was for commercial use it was actually a concentrated soap mix rather than watered down soap. Tough call. Guess after you bleach and thoroughly rinse them you can test them. If you spray them full of water and still get soapy bubbles then you need to keep scrubbing. Made me think of that silly animated movie where Will Smith was a fish/shark slayer and them singing "Working at the car wash"

It might just be easier at that size to just spend $30 and buy clean 55g food grade barrels.

True...but I'll be getting these for $10 for the set. I'll just have to see what they look like when they get here.

Or I may just revert to my old plan of buying this container listed below. Build a end table around it so it will sit next to my aquarium stand so it stays hidden. That way I can have a decent sized top off container and not have it scene. Possibly set a reactor or 2 ontop of it....depending on how purdy they look! :P
