    Default Coral spawn in June.

I was wondering how many other reef keepers have had their tanks spawn. It looks like I had a spawn in my 200 gal tank, all SPS except a few softy and alot of clams. I dose manual so I know it was not a cal or alk snow show. It could have been the acros or maybe the clams? It occured several hours after the lights went off.

did you add any extra filtration? keep a close eye, a big spawn event can foul a tank quickly... on the otherhand congrates, you must be doing something right

Ive seen videos of SPS spawning.. Its pretty cool!.. But it could do some damage in a tank. Have you noticed any changes in your water parameters Robert?

I changed my skimmer bout six months ago. Nothing new to the system. I checked the PH right away, thinking that something had gone south, Ph reading was 8.2. If the Ph keeps constant so will the Alk. I did'nt check Cal, because I dose daily keeping the Cal above 400. The ASM payed for its self many times over, that evening. Tanks doing fine. I wish I could say the same for my 480gal, can only keep softies for now.

Yes the clams spawning would feed your corals but will almost always kill your fish. What it does is clogs their gills and suffocate them. I had a friend one time that had a large clam spawn. It turned the tank the color of milk and killed all his fish, but the corals looked great. Keep an eye on it though.

The hawaiian featherdusters in m wifes 92 spawn every 2-3 weeks turning the tank to milk for 4-5 hours. Luckily it's a hiatt system so it doesn't cause any problems with params, probably makes it work better actually. The cool thing is around 5 or 6 new hawaiin featherdusters have grown in the tank.
