New 29g BioCube

Woo Hoo! I love this new BC 29g i picked up. Have to say after comparing to Aqua Pods and JBJ nanos; oceanic make a much better product. I frequent nano-reef.com a bit and have gotten lots of valuable info. Im sitting empty though. So far I have

5-23-07 Bought Stand, Salt and Sand

Still need to buy live rock and will be good to go. Im waiting for Wolf Reefs next order of fiji. As for what I have planned im going with the stock lighting and will have softies on around 20lbs of LR. As for mods all im going to do is run LR rubble in place of the bioballs in Chamber 2. Will also run Chem-pure and Purigen. Will eventually probably buy the Sapphire BC29 Skimmer for chamber 2 and also upgrade the pump. Anyways guys and gals I just felt like talking about my new aquarium. Unfortuantley at the moment im without camera so no pics. Ive also sent in my payment yesterday to officially become a charter member

Congrats on the tank. I have JBJ 12g and have seen several Biocubes. I think the quality, style, etc. is superior with the Oceanic. Enjoy it.

I have a biocube 29 myself and we just love it. We plan to add the sapphire soone to beef up the filtration a bit.

Most everything we have on the tank is stock except the we widened the spillway between the 1st and 2nd chamber in the wet/dry section. having done that our water level in the display is a bit low when to the fill line but once you add the skimmer you can raise the level in the back chamber and it balances out fine.

Also food for thought...we have been using a stock filter cartridge insert that we gutted, flushed out and now run our own filter padding/carbon padding in it. Doing this also reduced the number of times that we had to rinse/replace the filter cartridge, as it is now we end up changing it about once a monthe before it starts to clog.

Hey how many gallons is the bc 29? I heard they weren't really 29 gallons and that's why the LFS didn't want to carry them.

hmm well using a calculator with just the total dimensions of the tank it comes out to be about 34 gallons. With the back chamber only partially filled and sand,rocks,corals and such it's right around 29.

Thats part of the other reason I really want to get the skimmer, not only better filtration but I get to raise the h20 level and add more volume.

what do you feel is better about the Biocube when compared to the Aquapod24 with 150W HQI? I ask this because I'm about to order the Aquapod. The only thing I see it lacking is water flow. I plan to add a Tunze 6025 nano stream and the Tunze 9002 nano skimmer. I figured that would be a nice setup.

if you plan to pay that much i would go with a cadlights system with HO t-5 lighting with refug. sweetsetup I hope to pick up soon.

After doing research on the diffrent All-In-One systems i decided BC was simply a better product than the others. Besides Red Sea MAx i personally think Oceanic is the next choice. After reading many articles on Nano-reef.com I belive you cant go wrong, and if you do want to make mods to the lighting nano-tuners.com has everything you need ;)

Anyone having issues with the 29 BC lid? I have seen that there are no hinges. I have a 14 now and want to upgrade. Just curious...

No problem with the lid...the front opening is large enough to do any minor work inside, and really, how often do you reach inside anyway? I hav had my BioCube since this past August, and like it quite a bit.
