RE: Re: RE: Is Clark a good high school?
Where have I been this morning? I just noticed the thread. I have been teaching at Clark for 12 years and have seen some big changes in those years. It is true that the parking lot with the nice cars is the student parking lot due to all of the upper socio-economic levels in the area. Although, the dynamics of the school have changed. A few years ago, when they tore down the Victoria Courts, they (the city) made almost all of the Wurzbach and Woodstone area apartments into Section 8 housing. Many of those students, along with others moving in, now live in that part of Northisde. Clark now services some of the wealthiest and poorest families. Along with the section 8 housing, we have experienced some problems that are obvious. Yet, the population will be thinned out when Brandies (the new H.S.) opens.
I know that I am looking from the inside out, kinda like the way my Dominion kids rag on their neighborhood being ghetto. Even the way the dynamics at Clark have changed throughout the years, Clark is still a great school in comparison to others. We still score tops in Benchmark, TAKS, and Advanced placement tests along with O'connor and Health Careers. I don't mean to rag on other Northside High Schools, but the superintendent went in this year and cleaned house of all administrators and is making all dept. heads re-apply.....so I guess I could be worse.
I also live in the Clark area and will have my kids come here.
Don't put the price on the bag please.
