Thread: Addding a switch

    Default Addding a switch

I have a 192 watt power compact fixture. It has 1 12,000k 96 watt bulb and 1 96 watt actinic bulb. For some reason it only has one switch to control the 2 bulbs but there is a place for a third switch on the fixture. Would it be possible to go to radio shack and get a switch and make it where I can have the two bulbs run independently? I know it can be done but will this require a 2nd ballast(I am assuming I only have one)?

Most of the fixtures running duel 96W lights have duel ballast'. You can run seperate switches. It is switched from the common (white) wire.
