Glad nobody got hurt, were the dogs in the house or were they in the back yard?

As Brian said the hounds were crated, and waking them up is no easy task...lol.
The cats, however, I do think got wind of it. I shut the kitchen door but they were trying their darndest to get past me and to the door.
At first I didnt want to hurt it but then practicality took over, esp since we had no idea what kind it was, and Ive got a house full of pets. Needless to say, it is no longer with us.
hey look! I used my own account!...lol

Water snakes are just downright MEAN. Many people THINK they are water mocs, but rarely are. Easy way to tell is that in the US, only the Coral Snake has round pupils. All other poisonous snakes have vertical or "cats eye" pupils, and all other non-poisonous snakes have round eyes. Of course, not everyone wants to get close enought to look!

Best bet is to always assume is it venomous. Sometimes snakes come in different colors than what you expect them to look like.
