Thread: Trapping a fish

    Default Trapping a fish

I have been trying the two litter bottle trick and keep getting my wrasses and not the fish I want. Works like a charm for the wrong fish. I read about cutting the side of the bottle into a flap... ?? but I am not understanding. I cut a bottle and do not get how to make it stay open and then close it. If someone knows a website I can go look at people's homemade fish traps, please let me know.

A few damsels are being a pesk to my little tenneti and orange shoulder. If they can not be nice, they have to go. I have had no real problems up until these smaller tangs were added. I get so mad seeing them chase them the entire length of the tank because they crept past their hole/shell too closely.

I had NO trouble trapping the Angel I wanted, just waited 3 days and after about 15 mins on the 3rd day "Slam" Jailed NO PAROLE!!

However I have a hawkfish that won't go near it no matter how long you leave it in.

One of my damsels and my sailfin would swim in and out all the time.

Jessica is borrowing it this weekend if you'd like to borrow it afterward.

Did you get your canopy? I hope so!

It seems that they have turned into terrors in the last few days. Its like night and day just happened. The blue tell yellow damsels are biting at everyone that goes near them... And then they do not stop chasing it until they have chased it the length of my six foot tank. It is mainly these two. Its just amazing to me that they went from pretty decently acting fish to terrors in just a few days. :( I have my orange shoulder in quarantine and hope he makes it. I can't wait to borrow your trap!!! Thanks!!! I am going to continue trying to catch them with the bottle trick..... I got to try.

i've had much better luck just draining the water from the tank into my WC container, catch the fish in a couple inches of water, then just pump the water back in. i didn't move any corals, just left them high and dry for a few minutes. just be sure to turn off your lights.

Ok.. so they killed my little orange shoulder tang that wasn't orange yet, but just a little baby :(

I am so sad, and so mad. I searched for that fish for over four months. I have had it for about a month and everything was fine, until recently....

Well.. I was SO mad today! :angry I was looking around at anything to try trapping it. Ah ha... I have a asm skimmer that someone gave me. Its long, clear... GREAT! It will work for a trap.

I threw that in there... put some food in. Thirty mintues later....

One damsel down, five more to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!
