When rocks are leaning on the glass, they create a pressure point in a very particular section increasing the chances of a possible crack in your glass. Many people do put rocks against the glass without any kind of failure but the oppurtunity for disaster does exhist. Also, areas where rocks are up against a wall, stagnant water areas are created.
