You could turn off your skimmer and feed directly into the tank as a 38g is pretty small. To direct feed in the tank, get a syringe (walgreens sells the ones that you dose medicine for children in-- they work great) and connect a piece of airhose to it....use a small piece of sraightened coathanger to attatch to the airhose so that it is rigid. then you can direct the phytoplex over the clam. I feed my clams about once per week or so, as they are over 3 inches, in this manner.
