just let me know where i can collect my prize.... :unsure
so i saw that one of my pumps was stuck so i fugured it was a good time to reposition my wavemaker and plug may main pump into it.. i decided, also, that this was a good time for some routine maintenance so i removed my float valve and set it to soak in vinegar to remove the deposits i then proceeded to shut off one of my main pumps to plug it into the wavemaker.. did you know that when water rises in your sump, above the hole where the float valve should be, it will procede to dump out on the floor continuously while you stand there wondering where its coming from. 3 gallons later a not so bright lightbulb came on that told me i'm an idiot and i plugged my main back in and put the float valve back.
the whole time i was doing this i was smelling a very foul oder like something long dead. this i when i realized my second act of stupidity that makes me deserving of this award.. three days ago when i made my own coral food i had placed the extra clams in my sump in order to keep them fresh.. well i ended up not needing them and forgot they were in there.. yeah you guessed it ... all dead an rotting,.. the most horrible smell i have ever smelled.. this prompted a skimmer cleaning for optimal skimming and a water change..... oh by the way, when you turn on the valve to fill the bucket with RO/DI, don't forget about it in the minute it takes to fill up because it will NOT stop automatically at the top of the bucket <_< so four and a half hours later my "ROUTINE" maintenance is done and i'm hoping my corals don't suffer any ill effects.. oh and if anyone sees my brain.. please let me know where it was headed
