    Default coral level

    if i have a 260w pc over a 72 bowfront with open top 2x 12k65w and 2x atenic would anything survive if i put it on the sand its about 2ft from the fixture to the sand speaking of mushrooms zoos gsps xenia

    no clams or any other light hungry mothers in my tank although it would be nice

    thats not a whole lot of light for a 72 but you should be fine with mushrooms and some Zoas
    My Reef is Alive and well Despite My repeated Daily attemps to kill it!!

    I had a 75 for a couple of years with 260w's of CF and I had GSP's, Xenia, Mushrooms, Kenyan Tree's, Frogspawn and a Deresa Clam. Everything did fine. I would lean more to 10K or the Current 10K/67K lamp for growth in lieu of the 12K mentioned. And remember depending on the manufacture you will need to change your lamps every 8 to 12 months.

    The formula for lighting is depth of tank more than watts per gal. The deeper the tank the more watts you are going to need to light the bottom.

    yup, I have a toadstool leather in a 30g with 110w of regular flourescent, and he has almost doubled in size in the last 2 mos.!
