    Default HDTV Questions...

I have an HDTV which I love. My home theater system is wonderful 2.1 apartment sized system that acts as if it was a 5.1 system. My DVD player upconverts over an HDMI connection. All of this rocks but...

I have only basic cable :( lol!

The basic reception service does include a few HD channels. I am especially interested in PBS HD. (http://www.timewarnercable.com/sanan...ealacarte.html)

    So the questions are,

What do I need to get the HD channels?
Will I loose my HDMI connection between the TV and the DVD player?
Is there anything that I must be aware of?

I am a total HD newbie, help!

From what I was told. You have to pay for the hd box through Time Warner in order to receive and convert hd channels. If you don't have it you will not be watching true high definition. So just give them your other arm for the box. j/k I think it is like $5 or $10 more per month for the box.

You will need a HD cable box through Time Warner for the HD signal. When you go down to a service center, make sure you get a box that will have the HDMI on the back. Time Warner has two different boxes. Some with DVI and others with HDMI. I have both in my house on various HD tv's and the HD projector. You can convert a DVI to HDMI through adapters. There is no signal loss that way.

One thing I had to do in my home theater room is buy a HDMI SWITCH. We have only 1 input on the projector for HDMI but have 2 devices that need to connect to it (DVD player and digital cable box) I bought a switch from monoprice.com. Its a 2 in 1 out, self powered, with a remote to switch back and forth. This website also has great deals on cables and anything else you will need.

This is the 5 input one. I wish I bought it rather than the 2 input device.....
