Thread: new bugs

    Default new bugs

I just looked at my tank and found hundreds of these little swimming bugs in there. Best way I can describe them is they look like micro tadpoles. They are orangish brown with little tails and they swim like crazy and are attracted to light. I have seen copepods and scud shrimp, but these are new to me. If it is a newbie find for me great someone please let me know. But if it looks bad please help. I tried to get a pic with no luck. Don't think they are babies of anything that is in the tank because all fishes are singles and have been there for sometime. They are also a little bigger than the copepods that I have seen in my tank and the pods in my tank have all been white in color.

I have no idea what is in my tank. I woke up this morning to go to work and could not find any of these little guys in the tank. Jeff I looked at the link you gave but did not see anything that really resembled what I have. So far no fish or corals appeared to be harmed. It was weird, I mean there must have been easily a couple hundred. It looked like a sand storm in the tank. I only have a biocube 29 and I thought blizzard. These guys looked to have a distinct tail. Like i said they looked like micro tadpoles swimming around. You could even see eyes. I do have numerous hermits and one cleaner shrimp in the tank, but everything else is singular. I will try to get a pic if I see them again, but it would not come out even with macro because they moved too much.

How about scud shrimp larvae or trigger pods? Not sure if I got the names or spelling right.
