Not particularly true, insurance is there to make sure that your property and medical bills are taken care of etc. They are not a lottery system.
    Just my opinion though.
Personal responsibility of course plays a major part in my rant (see the part about benefit of the doubt). If you are legitimately hurt, then what I say is true...if you are scamming, then you are lower then skimmate. That, of course, goes without saying. :roll

In fact, after a reread of my original post, the one line you pulled out makes ME sound like one of those television jerks. :angry

Look, if you are trying to get something out of all of this ($$$$), chances are you are being frivolous about it, and the attack-dog attorneys love that type of client...people who feel they deserve something for nothing. If you are legit, you prolly don't want to sue the old lady who scratched your bumper for $50 billion. Likely, you just want things to be back to the way they were.

There's nothing wrong with making an insurance company pony up (only what is proper to resolve the issue, and in rare cases, punitive damages). That is why you pay them money, and why everyone else is supposed to, also; to put things back the way they were before...That's Allstate's stand. Are you in good hands?... :unsure Sorry.

Jrnannery I agree with you and with Joshua on this part. Also if you are out of work for the injury then I think that you should be compensated for that lost time and what is taken to get you back to work or retrained if you can no longer work in your prior job. What I don't agree with is these bleeding heart juries that award 50 million to someone who was working at a Blockbuster Video at the age of forty-five for lost wages throughout his life.

I can sympathize with the back problems; I’ve had lived with them for several years now along with two neck surgeries to repair some spinal cord problems, and the associated nerve damage that’s been done. The initial injury to my neck happened at the gym while lifting weights, but in the long run (in my case only) the problem was a spinal condition that is hereditary and nothing to do with the gym. I guess I could have looked for a lawyer and asked for millions but everything was taken care of that could be on their part. In this case it was the gym on base and I was still active duty so different than if I had been at Gold’s Gym or something I’m sure, but still if it was a machinery problem that caused the injury they would still be liable regardless. It’s no fun going through all the physical therapy and the five different drugs that I have to take daily to deal with all of this but I just don’t see someone getting rich off of an accident.

I guess that and this is the second time within a year this guy has been looking for legal advice on suing somebody for something. Maybe emilbus has just had a bad year and I should just wish him better luck on the upcoming years.

Wow, such a release of ENERGY in this thread :unsure Be it fate, karma, or whatever, everything comes out in the wash... Sometimes stains are left, but such is life v.v Sometimes an unbiased opinion from someone knowledgeable in the area is the best course/recourse :mellow Emilbus, I wish you luck in your endeavor to get justification/renumeration for the wrong that has been done to you. This is why there is a legal system and insurance companies :sick
