Thanks! Good stuff! I forget I can actually do searches on MAAST (unlike another very well known thread that wants to to pay for the premium service in order to be able to search. Although I wonder with so much stuff on it, it might be worth it).

I know Richard from CB pets has tinkered with it and he also sells the products for it at his store.

bstreep has tried it and might give you some pointers.....

A search should show you my experiences. I'm now on day 6 of a traditional sump/fuge system.

I'm reading the thread now, and will finish it, but I think Bill's last sentence probably says it all.

Just my $0.02. If you have a Fish Only tank, I'd certainly use it. If you have say a 75 gallon or less tank that you can do significant monthly water changes to, I'd consider it. I have a feeling that at some time, the problems with this system will be ironed out, and whatever is "missing" will be able to be supplemented. I CAN tell you that if you want to quickly cure a BUNCH of live rock, this is the way to do it! I'll probably keep a torpedo around for emergency use.

Thanks for the input. I have a 90g and 92g, one of which has a Nitrate issue which is probably being caused by an old sand bed (bought the system established). We are in the process of setting up a 180 - 210g system, which we will consolidate the other two tanks in. Since I'm starting this larger system from scratch, and I wanted to do this research before I started buying or changing some of the stuff I presently have. The search originally started to determine whether to have a Mud refugium (Miracle Mud of Fiji Mud) versus a deep sand bed fuge (I would appreciate opnions about that as well). I then learned about the coral accelerator food from another MAAST member who uses or is trying it, which led me to Richard, and then of course the carbon Hiatt method.

You are welcome to come over and see/discuss all of MY mistakes! I've been in the hobby for 35 years, so I've sure made a bunch of them.

I'm in Austin, but I'll definitely try to get by next time my wife and I decide to go to Aqurium Designs or I run down there to get some SPS frags from Ace. Thanks! I'm PM you ahead of time next time I plan to make a run down there.
