I've looked at these guys pretty closely and they don't appear to have a shell. They do seem to have horns, however.

I might just get an emerald crab, but I think that what you're seeing as bubble algae is actually grape caulerpa magnified. I do have a few bubbles, but it doesn't seem to be out of control.
