tony what I meant is if you leave you tv calibrated like it is out of the box your tv screen especially on a plasma will begin to get darker faster than it would if you calibrated the way it should be. Sure that may not be demenishing but its still something you can prevent. And as for burnin again if your contrast level is calibrated corrrectly and the color temp is set to warm you are more likely not to get burn in than when every thing is calibrated like they are out of the box. I dont meen you can leave a Icon on the screen for 8 hours and not have burnin, but you sure can watch a full season of spurs with no probs, and not have to worry about the NBA symbol or grey bar effect. Point is it helps the life span of your tv looking optimum for your veiwing pleasure. Im going to give that Incredibles THX thing a shot and thanks for the link to dvdinternational.

no problem, i figured thats what you meant but i didnt want a panic started for all of the dlp and lcd users who dont have the burn in or half-life issues that plasmas do.

Urban 79 we were having a conversation on TV calibration and its importants. Especially with todays newer technollogies in Plasma, LCD and DLP. When you buy a tv its usually calibrated incorrectly with most of the picture settings are way off and its a good idea to correct them. There are calibration DVD's out there that help with this as mentioned above AVIA & DVE are great.

My problem is somewhere along the way the remote for the actual television has been lost and hasn't popped back up yet.
I need to find it or pay out the big bucks to get another I suppose.

Try eBay. You would be suprized what you can find there. If you don't have any luck there, try a google search using the model number of your remote. There are lots of companies that sell just remotes for people in your situation and they don't charge a lot. Good luck with the search.

cliff, if you go universal check out the harmony 880. its been replaced by a newer model so you can pick it up on the cheap. its rechargeable with the stand, can be programmed with a computer, lcd screen, etc . . .
