So, for those of you that went, what would you think about having it here in a few years? Would you be willing to help out?
To be honest, I don't think, as a club, we are ready yet for something of that scope. However, that being said, I do think we can get there is we have the commitment as a club to make it a long term goal. I'm thinking of it in the 2009-2011 time frame. Its going to take a lot more then a few BOD members to pull something of this scale off. It would be something that the majority of the club would have to jump into and not just a few worker bees like we have done in the past. Once we commit to something like MACNA, there is no going back.
Just so you know, clubs bid on hosting MACNA 1 1/2 years in advance. So, for example, the bid for 2010 would be early in 2009. That's only a little over 2 years from now.
I spoke to the folks from MASNA (the national organization) about this. I also spoke to the folks from MARSH and DFWMAS (that hosted a very successful MACNA 5 yrs. ago). They are will to help out by giving us advice on the the do's and don'ts that they learned from their MACNA experience. I would also suggest that we, as a club, send people to every MACNA in the future, like we did this year. In particular, I would suggest that we send people that are committed to being a major part of a future MACNA's planning and execution.
I'll start another thread along these lines in the charter member forum so we can get your feedback and start a dialog on this topic.
