Default Flush Valve on Purely H2O Automated

Don't know if Brian is still monitoring these boards. If so please help if you can, it would be much appreciated.

If not, has anybody installed a flush valve on a Purely H20 Automated system. I purchased the flush valve from Purely H20 along with some replacement filters recently, after reading about the benefits of periodically flushing the membrane. This flush valve has a flow restrictor built in so you are just supposed to put in place of the current flow restrictor. Problem is I can't find the current flow restrictor on the unit. Anybody know where it is?

    Thanks.

I COULD be WRONG. But, I think the restrictor on those is adjustable - like a knob. The good thing about the built in ones is that it's a LOT harder to ruin a membrane that way.

The flush kit should route the water around the existing flow restrictor bypassing it allowing the water to take the path of least resistance. If your flush kit has a restrictor already in it, I would remove it and use the existing one which should be where the waste line connects to the RO unit. Either way, make sure you use only one restrictor and be sure its designed for your partcular model, ie: GPD.

This flush kit is designed specifically for the unit I have, and should have the same flow restrictor just incorporated into the flush kit. I was generally aware that the flow restrictor should be located where the waste line connects, but I just don't see it unless it is inside the membrane housing. I don't see a knob anywhere and do not believe it to be an adjustable restrictor, just a basic 100 gpd. I didn't want to take the membrane housing apart right now if I didn't have to. The Purely H2O website in giving the instructions refers to a FAQ for "Where is my Flow Restrictor", but I can't find that FAQ anywhere on their site. Thanks for your advice.

Check out this page, it has a pretty bad picture but will give you the idea.
You can just buy a flush valve kit that routes the water around the restrictor if yours doesn't have one. I know that www.airwaterice.com carries them.

I have the purely H20 flush kit; it's just a valve which either turns on the flow restrictor or shuts it off, allowing unrestricted flow. You turn the valve so water comes flying out of the waste line to flush. It's really simple. It's not adjustable, just on-off.

I have the Purely H20 flush kit already. I just need to figure out how to install it and remove the existing flow restrictor. Matt, since you have this flush kit, where did you install it and where was the existing flow restrictor?

Mine came with the flush kit installed; it's in line on the waste line. Usually if there's a small flow restrictor it's at the connection between the R.O membrane and the waste line. Pull that line off and see if there's a little fitting in there.

Thanks Matt. I did as you said. Pulled the waste line off at the membrane housing and could see the flow restrictor up inside there. Grabbed it and pulled it out with a pair of needle nose pliers. Now I've installed the flush kit and we are back in business. Thanks again.
