Tank Mount Protein Skimmer

Hello,

I am looking for a tank mount protein skimmer. I have looked at the following skimmers:

1) Aqua Medic http://fishtanksdirect.com/index.asp...&ProdID=46
2) Coralife Super Skimmer http://fishtanksdirect.com/index.asp...&ProdID=34
3) Red Sea Prism http://fishtanksdirect.com/index.asp...&ProdID=36

Can anyone give opinions or other recommendations for a solid skimmer for a 125G tank?

the turbo floater would be your best bet out of the 3.
Just out of curiosity, why are you only looking at hang-on models?

There will be a very low bio load on the tank, lots of live rock and sand to handle the system cycle. I am tyring to avoid the hassle and maintainance of a sump.

Suggestions?

Personally, I would highly recommend a sump. Theyre really not that much trouble and really add stability to your system.
I just set my tank up and almost omitted the sump, but am really glad that I didnt. I had a fellow member, hobogato, custom build me one. It is set so I have room for my skimmer and a refugium. Here is a pic of it:

Huh? There is no real maintenance on a sump. Water flows in, water flows out. Other then cleaning the return pump every few months there's not a lot to do. In the long run your are going to have a lot less "hassle" with a sump then with a HOB skimmer. Besides with a sump, you have a lot more flexibility on how to deal with issue when they arise. For example, where to put a phosphate scavenger when an algae bloom occurs.
