    Default Newbie in San Antonio

Hello everyone. I'm new to the saltwater addiction, and wanted to introduce myself (my tank actually).

    12 gallon aquapod:
    Running 2 weeks.
    Standard lighting.
    MJ 600 pump.

    Rear setup:
    1st chamber - chemipure
    2nd chamber - 1.5 lbs LR
3rd chamber - Chaeto - need to get the external light set up.
    4th chamber - MJ600

    Display:
    13lbs Livesand - FinAddict
    14lbs LR - Ace's frag tank
2 frags (I know they shouldbn't be in there, but Ace gave me a deal I couldn't turn down).

Right now it's pretty much a prison tank :P
I've got brown algae, hair algae, aptaisia, bristleworms, and possibly the little coral eating star fish.....pretty much everything you don't want, I have. It's a blast seeing all the life in there. I'll start controlling the pests shortly.

Water specs (going off memory from last test, forgive any rookie mistakes):
SG - 1.25 (overloaded on salt initially and have been bringing it slowly down over the last week with fresh water).
    Nitrates - 0
    Nitrites - 0
PH - 8.0 (started at 7.8 but has been slowly rising)
    alk - 180 ppm
temp - 83 pretty consistantly since I put in the MJ600.

So, I'm hooked. I've been lurking on this forumn for about 3 years would like to thank everyone for the information that is posted here.

Welcome, Ben! Sounds like your going to have a nice little tank there!

Speaking of "prison tank", I think I had the "hair band tank" when I set up last October!! I was so excited that I actually HAD my tank set up (I spent over a year researching and buying it piece by piece) that I thought it was kind of pretty...until it took up more room than the water! :sick However, after my clean up crew was added, they scrubbed it within a week!

My tank is still FAR from perfect, but it is improving day by day. Maybe I will not be embarrassed to show it to some of you people in a couple of months. :P
The moment his HEAD is in view, hit it with the LIVE ROCK!
