    Default It has begun...

As many of you know I recently got started out in my first saltwater setup *hooray*. Well, now I'm looknig to start up another tank... this time without fish :lol

What size tank would y'all reccomend? I was thinking something about 10-20 gallons. I see people using these 'nano cubes' a lot for these, what exactly makes these different than other tanks? What kind of filtration will I need for this tank? What kind of lighting do y'all reccomend? Actually, does anyone have any established setups that they're looking to sell that I could use to start out with?

Any tips/tricks/advice/reccomendations would be great! Thanks (for making me go broke) MAAST!!

a nanocube is a self contained system, the filtration is built in. some people modify them by adding larger pumps for increased flow. the nanocube also comes with a couple different lighting options, or this to can be customized with a little ingeniuity(sp?). i've never had one myself though, so maybe someone else will jump in here. on a general note, larger tanks are more stable, and therefore are generally thought to be a bit easier to keep, as one thing that most corals appreciate is stable parameters. i would recomend going a little larger( you'll want to eventually anyways, believe me), like 30 gallons or so. i've always been partial to the 30G cube tanks, they give you alot of options in aquascaping for such a small tank.

    I don't really have room for a second 55g.
I like the idea of a smaller tank that I could just set on a counter.

I have a Nano Cube DX and I love it. I haven't made any mod with the exception of the cassette tape surface skimmer. I keep all kinds of softies and it's not that much work. I don't dose anything I just do weekly water changes. You can buy customized ones here: http://www.nanocustoms.com/ or you can do the work yourself and buy mods here: http://nanotuners.nanocustoms.com/nanotuners/ It's the same company.
