Thread: Cloudy water??

    Default Cloudy water??

Any ideas on how to get the water in my 90gal LPS tank clearer. It has what looks like floating particles in it. The tank has an overflow box into a 20gal sump. In the sump is a Precision Marine Skimmer, live rock and three baffles forcing the water through filter media. I also have a turbo twist 18w uv sterilizer running off a 1200 maxi powerhead.
    Any suggestions would be great.

Could be several things; did you recently add alot of buffer and/or calcium additive? Is it algae? Microbubbles? Did it suddenly happen or gradually get worse?

It's been a kinda constant thing. Didn't add any buffer or calcium it's just always like that. I was thinking it might be microbubbles but I can't find the source.

Could your return pump be sucking up bubbles from your overflow lines leading to the sump?
