    Default fish compatability?

Need some input regarding how which fishes to introduce first along with how they will get along.

Can I house a Coral Beauty with a larger Angel such as an Imperator or French?

How about a Purple with a Sohal or a Naso?

Basically these are the types if fishes (wish list- I wish I could add all of them!) that I want to add to my 215. I have read alot of different stuff regarding compatability. Just want to get input from people with personal experience. I also would like to know which fish to add first and so forth...

    Thanks

In that size tank, your Coral Beauty should be fine. With tangs, it's best to introduce them all at the same time. However, I've heard that a Sohal IS an exception. They can be pretty dominant. I'm waiting a bit before I add mine to my tank...

i have a vlamingi and a purple (among other tangs) in my tank, and they dont pay any attention to each other. vlamingi is in the same genus as a naso. i also have a clown tang - i think closely related to a sohal. the clown tang (3.5" long) sometimes chases the vlamingi (9" long) but doesnt care about the purple tang. i have heard that tang that are of similar shape or color have the hardes time getting along.

I have a purple tang and a yellow tang together. I put them in at the same time and they hang out together. I read in an issue of coral magazine that they tend to get along more if they have plenty of food. I put in two algae clips in the tank and all of my fish seem to do well. 2 tangs and 2 dwarf angels with one small emperor. I still plan on adding a powder blue and maybe a butterfly.

Depends on the size. Put the smaller fish in first

There are few guarantees in adding fish and sometimes not having problems. Keep in the back of your mind that even though you waited to add a certain fish at a certain time, it might not work out. In which order to add first look at exactly what you want to add, there is a general rule as far as which is more aggressive. Make sure you quarantine all fish so that way they can be rested and fat before they have to compete for food. Example on my theory I had a Regal Tang that I had to sell because he was beating up my imperator Angel and Purple Tang. Another Regal I have which is larger than the first is docile to a 1" clown trigger and a juvenile blue face angel. Example two if you where to add Richard, Mark and Gary to a room, which would you add first?( Just Joking) Best bet is to add juveniles to your tank, juvenile tangs don't have razors yet, juvenile angels don't have there sharp gill plates either. Good luck on whatever you do and remember there are no guarantees in mother nature.
