For great quality rock, Dr. Mac has some nice live rock. I have heard Liveaquaria has some nice rock too.

Just start at one fish store and then go to the next. Live rock comes in a million shapes and sizes pick the sizes and shapes that will fit your tank and the look you are searching for? Most of the local fish stores will make you a deal on anything over 100 lbs. Best bet is to start by purchasing some large unique pieces to make up the base and then the really unique full of growth pieces to top it off. Sometimes you can be taken because some of the liverock around is concrete or it feels like and isn't very porous.

Marshall Island Live Rock from Premium aquatics is about as good as you can get! Plus they're a sponsor.

Have it air cargo shipped and pick it up at the airport to save money and get it fast (same day usually)

Cheapest will be to buy it "used" locally when others break down their tanks.

Killed my first coral in 1991, have tried to do better since. Always tricky.

I'm with TT on this one; but check the for sale forum, someone's selling rock locally.
