Default Snails & Hermit Crabs from the coast....

I went fishing this past weekend at Port O'Connor, Tx and was noticing a ton of snails and hermit crabs on the shore. I mean a ton of them. Would they be safe for aquarium use? They looked like small turbos. If so I will collect next time I am out.

Default RE: Snails & Hermit Crabs from the coast....

I've collected snails and hermits from bays oceans jetties and shorelines, the snails do a **** well job of eating dead things, old things, and algea keep them, but get rid of hermits, i used to have them in my tank the kept my sand clean but fish were vanishing over night, and corals were being destroyed.
    29G Mixed tank, 380w of light (250w 14k Ushio, 2x65w PC Actinic), Octopus NW110, 75x turnover.

Finally after years I have a tank worth showing!
