My Nitrate jumped up to 40ppm and this is an established tank. Rick and I just added some corals and that was it. was that the problem? :wacko.

Adding coral shouldn't cause an increase in nitrate unless there was some die off of the corals. Unfortunately we often look at the most recent event in a tank and blame it. The actual cause may be something totally different. When was the last time you tested nitrate and what was the result then?

I tested it around 8:30 today and it read 40
