Has anyone had a tank put together by Regal Plastics? Did they clean up all edges? Did the seams have bubbles? I'm asking because I'm interested in the 150 gallon they built for someone that didn't pick it up, problem is I'm in Austin and tank is in SA. Want the trip to be worthwhile.

    THanks,

I'm going by there fairly soon to pick up some CNC work, and maybe I can get the guy to show me the tank up close; it was on a very high shelf when he showed it to me. I'm kind of surprised it's still there; there were a few people interested. After I see it, I can give you a good idea of the workmanship

As far as their overall workmanship, I have no idea. I think they made Dan's big cube (4ft by 4ft) and it's still together after several years. I know they used Cyro GP 1/2" on this 150 gal; that's realy good plastic. I think he also said he used wedon #3, which is not as good as #4 for thick cast acryilic, and he said they ran some #16 on the bottom seams, which a lot of people do I guess.

As long as the seams are not flame polished, even if they're not rounded or finsihed off you could sand them out and make them look perfect if you were motivated. You would use 400 wet/dry, then 600, then all eight grades of micromesh, wet sanding with each grade.

Anyhow, I need to call them about the CNC work, so I'll try to find out what I can.

    Matt,

I appreciate it. It would help me out a lot if I can get your opinion of it before I make a trip to SA. When are you planning on swinging by?

Still have not had a chance to go by, but maybe this afternoon. $50/hr sounds about typical, I guess, as long as they can work fast...on the skimmers and reactors that I make, it's probably more like $5/hr.

This tank, though, is being sold for about the price of the acrylic alone, so it's a great deal.
