    Default Fun Jettie Trip

So Troy and I went to the Port A Jetties last night for a bit of collecting. We ended up with about 18 peppermint shrimp, two pipe fish, a decorator crab, ton's of sea lettuce, and some amphi's we're not too sure about. They look like rollie pollie's. I've got about 13 peppermints left in my QT tank. If anyone needs some let me know $4 each to help with gas from the trip.

ohh and for our trip some good advice...someone go the day before and seed some pools with fish heads. We were seeing pep's in 2's and 3's then all of a sudden in a pool that had a couple dead fish heads in there it was like 3 dozen in there. We left quite a bit for you guys coming down later.
Saw some decent Live Rock pieces that I wouldn't mind having, but I didn't know what the legality of removing rock from the jetties was.

I checked with TP&WD about live rock. Its legal to collect LR, but they don't recommend it. The rock at the jetties is mainly granite so its not going to have a lot of porosity.

Yes I agree, there were just some smaller rocks with anemonies or nice macro's on it that rather then tear off would have been nice to just drop in the tank. BTW water temps at the jetties were low 60's last night. We drip acclimated all the shrimp and warmed the water over a period of 8 hours up to 78 degrees. Only lost one shrimp so far. Others are hanging out. I put an old bubble coral skeleton that had a mejano or two and a true aptasia on it to see if they will take the bait.

Rob no problem. I'd really like to go and find some blennies and other fish out there. Pep's are fine, but you can only have so many. I actually have more Crustatians in my tank then fish since the Great Ich/Velvet out break of 06. I added 4 pep's to my display tank today which houses 2 fire, 2 cleaners, 1 coral banded, 1 blue spiney lobster, 4 green emeralds, and one Hawaiian Strawberry Crab. Ohh and I've got a decorator crab I grabbed last night by accident that's hiding somewhere in my sump!

good I'm still cleaning sand outta my Golf!

You'll want some waders and some good non-slip boots now....it's still pretty chilly at night. I wore some bib waders and a short sleve shirt and was fine.
