My current laptop is fairly decent It's a Dell Latitude D810 with 1 GB of ram 60GB 7200 RPM hard drive and Intel 2 GHZ centrino processor, 128 MB ATI video Card with a 15.4" Ultra sharp widescreen, built in 802.11 b & g adapter, built in 10/100 ethernet, serial port, USB ports and docking port and I must say it works great. The most important thing by far is the 7200 RPM hard drive. It is night and day compared to a 5,400 RPM.

no sense in arguing over something as subjective as this.

the only thing the mac fans and pc fans agree on, is to disagree. fact is both have good points and bad.

I think we are playing nice. SATX and I simply are stating our points. No bashing or name calling...it's a debate...and it's educationally stimulating.

Josh it's similar to the Linux guys tossing out RedHat and Gnome as windows alternatives. Which I would toss in the same category as Mac. They each have thier strong points, but for the average Joe, or Jane, they simply can not be seen as an equal to PC's for office/leasure/non-graphics use.

I had a linux server I setup as a project in College. Had a few mail clients in the dorms and some serious FTP traffic. The college was not amused, so I had to take it down. I kept the server up for personal use and played around with it a bit as I got my programming degree. It was fun to develop my C++ programs on. I tried KDE and Gnome, and just didn't like having to rebuild my kernel every time I wanted a new feature. However that system did stay up on a crappy 100mhz pentium for over a year.

I have a Sony VAIO. I got it almost exactly one year ago and have loved it. I used a desktop for the longest time and finally bought a laptop last March. I fell in love using it and until recently, only turned on the desktop 3 times in the past year LOL. It is/was not the top of the line computer but it wasn't a bargin bin one either. I like Sonys A LOT because I have yet to have any hardware conflicts. Even the OS has not really created any problems for me. As for durability, I have taken it to work every day the past year. I work in a dirty shop where there is a lot of grease, metal shavings, dust, and such. I hook it up to speakers and play music for 10 hours a day. Then mess around the internet at night so the machine has been running a lot. Durabilty is top notch.

As for the features its just a matter of comparing them between different companies. But you know that I'm sure ;)
