Default Mandarin thinks it's a man eater!

So yesterday I pulled my mandarin out of my sump. We found her in the overflow a couple of days earlier. I've since screened off as well as possible my overflows, but I was just curious as to why my mandarin roams the tank with her pectoral fin skimming the top. Looks like a scene from jaws...a psychadellic minature jaws.....for amphipods and copapods of course

it's a her, my niece names them and at 4 it's either a nemo name or something simple. Her name is Mandi. My copperband's name is 5-0 for a hawaiian cop, Sue the psudochromis. Old man for the lawnmower, snakeyes and craps are my domino damsels, percula is nemo, Convict tangs are prisioner number 012345 and P# 678910, Yellow belly blue damsel is Dory. The cleaners and banded shrimp haven't gotten names, and we can't think of a good one for the blue lobster yet.

    convict names are hillarious....

my wife and I have had a hard time coming up with names for our maroon clown pair.

opps they are convict damsels or 4 stripe damsels not tangs sorry. Maroon Clowns are what I'd really like, but I had to get nemos for my niece. You could call one maroon 5 and the other maroon 6 after the band. Or name them after famous clowns I'd name the male Grim after Joesph Grimaldi the pioneer of the whiteface clowns you see today.

Our first two percs were Snazu and IT, but IT jumped out to where none of them float. Then the replacement male is named Dumpy.

As to the Jaws action you've got going on, I had a female that would do that too. The male, Johnny, wouldn't swim all funky at the top like Betty did. She only seemed to do it when she was a bit stressed, like after a water change or a move. They both did it when they were in a bucket in the middle of a move though, like they were going to die.
