Thread: Safe alternatives for filter media

    Default Safe alternatives for filter media

    Poly-fil and Nu-foam products. Are they safe to use? The 'Under Penalty of Law" label says they are 100% polyester fiber. They are advertized as hypo-allergic.

    Any other common item I can use for filtering?

    I use the rolls from Wal-Mart in my drip plate prior to my bio-ball tower.
    Ooooh, yes I still use bio-balls, basically for sound baffle though and not for filter purposes.

    Thanks. Good to know.

    Wal-Mart = 4 miles
    LFS = 40 miles
