noisy neighbors, what to do?

just got done reading this... any update?

I too have resorted to the placement of big speakers on the offending wall/floor... seems to work especially watching something like armageddon, turn the subwoofer way up so everything in the apartment rattles.

But if you REALLY want to have some fun go to www.thinkgeek.com they have a device that's pretty cheep that takes a 9v battery, if you can get it into their air ducts some how, it will go off at random intervals with a chirp... and they will go nuts trying to find it.

I suspect they don't answer the door because they are stoned. I personally would call the cops saying you smell pot smoke coming from the apartment the other day (can't prove you didn't) If they think there may be drug related activity in there they may handle it a little more aggresively.

You could also fake a ticket and stick it in their door.

You need to see the movie Pacific Heights. It's a Michael Keaton movie about a neighbor from hell. I think you'll relate to the problems.

if it happens again call 311 and lodge a complain w/ code compliance. they won't come out and tell them to keep it quiet at night but they will leave an official looking note the next day telling them to keep it down. that might scare them a bit... you'd also have an official record of complaint. you could always throw their breaker outside and wait there for them to come out and turn it back on. then you could express your feelings to them face to face :angry

satx - don't mean to spoil the fun, but you really need to be calling the police everytime they turn up the music. A lot of suggestions made here, while funny and really tempting, are criminal and will get you in a LOT of trouble. Even something as simple as throwing their breaker will almost certainly send you to jail. (look up criminal mischief in the penal code) And if one of them in that apt tells an officer they saw either one of you with a gun, YOU WILL LOSE, big time. SAPD will not be impressed with handgun or security guard licenses.

And once they call the police on you, even for your loud music, then everything you try to do to get them to quieten down will just be looked at as retaliation for them calling the police (and that could be a felony in itself under certain circumstances)

After SAPD has been called out a few times, they will be looking to put somebody, anybody, it doesn't matter who, in jail just to make the problem go away.

Trust me, I know this stuff very well.

ps - ive already called SAPD on them numerous times, and theyve informed me that theyve recieved no phone calls regarding me
