I was wondering if anyone uses distilled water. I use RO/DI, but have a friend who uses distilled water. We were wondering if the distilled would lack the trace elements necessary to maintain a successful reef.

I used to use Distilled water in my FOWLR until I got and RO unit. I dont see many trace elements making it through and RO/DI. Just have to add them back but most of use do anyway. JMO

Yeah, you don't want anything more than the water going through. Your trace elements come from your salt and whatever additives you dose.

Ok, thanks. That's what I was assuming, but I wanted to know for sure.
When they make distilled water, they run it through carbon and DI first, so it is essentially the same thing.
