    Default curse of my 125....

ok now i'm getting frustrated and i dont know what to do heres the scoop in a nutshell...
moved 125 to new house mid Nov. Had a BAD ICH breakout late Nov-Dec lost 5 of my fish... tank appeared to have recovered mid Dec thanks to the advice from Richard.. Then late Dec. the triggers started beating up my large lunar wrasse hey bit his tail fin off. I moved the wrasse to another tank while I got rid of the triggers in early Jan. while in that tank i noticed he wouldnt eat just nip at the food, but not swim as much as before. this was my "olympic" Wrasse that did laps in the 125 NON-STOP and ate like a pig!!
I then moved the Wrasse back to the 125 about 2-3 wks later mid Jan. NOW my wrasse just lays there, he doesnt want to eat and i havent seen him swin around AT ALL. Yes he is alive and he moves his eyes around but wont come up to eat at all he hasnt eaten for more than a week. He does move to the back or lays in the opposite direction but he doesnt leave that area or come out at all. This evening i fed him with the turkey baster while he laid there and i was able to get really close to his mouth and he did suck in some food but thats about it.... I have tied everything to get him to eat. Frozen Krill, brine, spiranulina, cyclopeze, added garlic, Zoe, flakes, and even some live ghost shrimp and i am at a loss as to what else i can do... there are no signs of ICH in the tank and all the other fish are fine and eating well. I have a large poc. puffer, yellow tang, Scopas tang and a chromis in there now.. I can gather he might be stressed out but for this long??
Please ANY help or advice would be greatly appreciated i have had him for almost 2 years and i dont know what else to do...

    Thanks
    Thelma

    Hmmm...tough to say.

First the obvious stuff...water parameters, what are you feeding him, does he look thin, etc.

When I am stumped my rule is "when in doubt, fw dip them". Even healthy wrasses don't appreciate fw dips so you'll have to make the call if you want to do that. My other rule is "if they die from a fw dip, they were going to die anyway".

Ok, i checked the water parameters 2 days ago and nothing was off in readings... i'd have to go get the pad if you want me to list the values... as far as food everything under the sun is being fed in that tank..not an over amount but more like something different almost every other day. He does not look thin at all, he looks the same as before.. but one thing that i did not mention was that the yellow tang hangs out in that area as well...almost like hovering over him, and at night thats where they both sleep. Is it possible that the tang is bothering the wrasse? This tang has never shown any signs of being aggressive at all and is rather skidish so im confused....

    thanks

I meant what was he eating before he stopped eating and how much.

Wouldn't hurt to list the readings or at least what you tested for.

Never mind...you already answered those questions.

Lunare's are tough as nails so I don't think he would have problems from water quality before the tangs. They do pout when they are getting picked on though but I've never seen a tang bully a lunare much.

Stumped....I'll have to put my thinkin cap on but it's real late and it isn't working well right now.

    Anyone else????

The reson I was asking about what he was eating and how much was that sometimes real aggressive eaters can get intestinal blockages. You could try using epsom salt at 1 tblspn per 10 gallons. Sometimes that can help and won't hurt anything. It's just magnesium sulfate.

If it was me I would move him to a hospital tank all by himself...but being stressed and already moved twice, picked on by the triggers.....the move is going to have to be your call. That way you can really try and feed him good and put vitamins in the water if you can't get him to eat there. I might just be worn out and gun shy from the triggers, the moves, the ick.

Try some froze blood worms....haven't found a fish yet that can resist those......I put those in my tank you you would swear I just put in some raw meat to a parahna (sp, its late) tank and all I have now is a couple tangs, a 6 line, a scooter blenny, and some clowns! LOL

IF you get him to eat those.....dose the mess out of them with vitamins.

Best case...he's pouting....worse case, he's got internal parisites or a blockage.
If life is like a box of chocolates, then someone sat on mine!
