Another dead deer picture
We finally made it out after christmas for one weekend of hunting. Work sucks and sure would have liked to hunt a bit more but atleast got one weekend! My uncles last year as he turned 76 and decided he was too old for farming and is moving to Amistad. Anyway here is adopted kid and little 4 point which was his first deer. No idea what the look on his face is but maybe its because I told him he had to eat the intestines :P
and an added bonus we found a large snake den! Caught a played with a few and took some pictures. There were some BIG snakes curled up in there!
its a big secret but when he shot with the .22-250 I squeezed off a little .17hmr round that somehow managed to kill the little deer at over 100yrds with a heart/lung shot. Many many tiny little holes in the heart from the .17hmr with no exit wound. He dosen't know and I hated to do that but it was almost dark and Tim was shaking so bad from excitement I was pretty certain there was no way he would drop it and wanted his first deer hunting trip to end with a deer. Heck he was happy and I have a meat in the freezer so im happy as well! This is after he shot 19rds at 4 other deer missing every shot. He is normally a excellent shot when target shooting but excitement got the best of him I suppose!
