    Default Choosing a book...

    Hey all

I received a $20.00 Borders gift certificate for Christmas. I want to buy a reef related book with this money. I have already received "Dr. Burgess's Atlas of Marine Aquarium Fishes" as a present and I would like to pick out a book that focuses on corals and invertebrates.

Here is my dilema... There are so many books out there I don't know what one to choose. I was hoping that yall can assist me in picking out a quality book. I would like the book to be in the $20-$30 price range. I am not a beginner but not hardly an expert.

Please share your experiences with me. Thanks for your help!

    Christopher.

I would say save the gc and apply it towards this book. Definitely not a beginners book but will cover everything in a beginners book and much, much more.

For $20, you can't go wrong with This One if you like field guide style books!

"The Reef Aquarium: A Comprehensive Guide to the Identification and Care of Tropical Marine Invertebrates (Volume 1)" Looks like a great book but I am afraid at this time it is a bit out of my price range. I have heard many things abou this series of books and I am very interested in purchasing them in the future!

It is funny that you mention "A PocketExpert Guide to Marine Invertebrates." I have been seriously considering purchasing this book. I have had the oppurtunity to see this book in person and it seems to be chock full of information, even considering its small dimensions.

Thanks everyone for your help in this matter! I appreciate the opinions very much!

I carry both the marine invertebrate and Scott Michael's Marine Fish pocket guides with me in the car. I have found them to be very helpful in doing a little quick research on a fish or invert before purchasing them at an LFS. I am happy to see that most LFS now keep a copy of both as part of their reference libraries that folks can use while shopping. I was on the waiting list for the invert book before it even came out earlier this year.
