    Default Almost a FIRE!!!!

    heres the story.................................

it was a day like anyother till i get a phone call asking how to turn the breaker off to the tank. I asked WHY? in a wondering voice. she tells me that there is a fire under my fish tank. so after saying turn off the 2 bottom breakers i get home about 2 minutes after the phone call to find her running around looking for the breakers. i run in an shut the breakers off. come to find out i screwed up. when i hooked the oceansmotions up i didnt glue in the pipe going to the tank and it POPED off. water had leaked down onto the plugs where things where plugged in and the breaker never tripped nor did i have a gfi in either. everything is still working and was when i shut the breakers off. so now i must replace a plug an add 2 gfis. one for the light plug box and one for the pumps and misc plug box. just thought i would share my stupidity with everyone. everything is fine there was no fire just a little smoke, sparks and about 15 gallons of water on my bedroom floor(carpet).

WOW!!!!!!!!! Close call. That's why I always use GFCI's on all my set ups. Glad it didn't cause more damage.

Maybe we should get a group order together for those fire extinguishers that take care of electrical fires.

or an order of GFCI outlets- although they're really pretty cheap AND easy to install (I know this because anything electrical that I can actually accomplish must be real easy).
