    Default are these good levels?

    Amon- .25-.50
    nitrite- 0
    nitrate- 5-10
    ph- 7.4

if not what do i need to do to get each level down? this was tested about 3 hours after doing a 25% water change.

Nope, not good. Amm, Nitrate too high, should be zero, Ph too low. What size is the tank? What is your normal routine? Is this a newly settup system? Looks like youre still cycling. What test kits are you using?

ive had the tank up and running for about a month 1/2, my normal cycle if you mean by water changes is twice a month at about a 25% change and its a 55g.

Mike, I have to agree with Jim on this one. Amonia should always be zero. Right now your nitrite says zero, but I can bet when you get the amonia to zero your nitrite levels will increase, its part of the nitrogen cycle. Like Jim said, your tank is still cycling and normally it takes about two months on average for the cycle to complete and remain stable. Now, you have an eel and a couple of damsels as I recall, right? Since your tank is not cycled and you already have fish contributing to your bio-load, this may delay the process a little. I have never had fish while cycling so I cant help you with that, but I am sure someone will chime in and offer a suggestion. Mike, you are doing better than average by asking a lot questions. I only wish I could have asked more questions and have done more research when I first began. Keep asking and reading and soon we will be the ones asking you questions. Good Luck Mike.
