    Default 110watts 50/50 vs 110watts anctinic

well... i REALLY love the way my floro anctinic bulb brings out the neon green in my zoanthids and mushroom colonies. i was wondering, could i switch my PC light, which is 110 watts of 50/50 for anctinic, and switch my floro to 100% white? would this affect my corals in any way? what about my anenome?

You are going to lose a lot of light intensity by going to actinic only. On the other hand I don't really like 50/50 bulbs either. The actinic in a 50/50 bulb isn't usually true actinic, its a blue bulb (460 nm) not 420 nm which is true actinic. I would recommend you check the spectrum of your bulbs. 420 nm is thought to cause the color pigments in corals. I guess it really depends on what corals you have in your tank. It probably won't matter if they are just softies. It would matter a lot more if you had SPS. PCs aren't really a good choice for SPS anyway.

well my mushrooms turn neon green under anctinic lighting, so does my anenome.
