    Default Remora Skimmer

I bought a used Remora last month. It was only about 6 months old when I got it, and it came with the Maxijet 1200 and the pre-surface skimmer box. They say that the skimmer box is supposed to increase the efficiency by 25-50%. But, I'm still not seeing much.

Does anyone know anything about these? I contacted Aqua C via email about a break in period. They told me that, even though it had been used before, it would still require about a week or two to break in completely. It's been a month now, and all I seem to get is 1/8 inch of greenish brown liquid. It produces lots of nice bubbles, and it foams pretty well, but it seems like the foam hits the lid and just stops there. I've been checking it both dailiy and every few days, and it seems like there's the same 1/8 inch or so in there no matter what. The riser tube does get caked with a brown gunk if I let it go for a few days. I guess I thought I'd be getting THAT kind of production in the collection cup.

    Any thoughts?

Have you tried lowering the collection cup? I modded my Remora Pro by gluing a 5/8" x 2" piece of pvc tubing to the center of the lid to put a little back pressure in the riser and to deflect the bubbles to the side instead of the top... Now I get a more concentrated skimmate as opposed to the green tea Remoras are known for...

The height of the collection cup doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I currntly have it not quite all the way down.

I'm not sure if I understand the mod. The pvc tubing is glued to the lid so that it also fits over the riser? I guess this makes the bubbles slide down the pvc, between the pvc and the riser? Right now, the bubbles just spread out and stick to the lid. I guess I can try your mod.
