    Default Clam dip in freshwater

I have a small dersa clam that I have had for awhile.
His mantle has receded about 1/8in to 1/4in into the shell. This is the same clam that had a hole in it but has healed.

The parameters on the tank is normal and the other larger gigas clam is doing perfect.

How often do you do a freshwater dip to help them get back to normal??
I did one today for 25min and hes back in the tank looking a little better.

    Thanks

Is there any medicine I could put into the dip too?

I am definitely not an expert but I had this problem just rescently with mine that I have had for two years. I blamed it on being in a tank that was too clean.( I did a water change a couple of weeks ago and couldn't tell which bucket was new, and which was old water) I moved him to another tank and in a couple days, he was back to normal. Since the move he has picked up an 1/8" of new growth.

Is it pinched mantle? There are tons of threads out there to explain the treament but none of them are very definate. I dont think the cause is even known

I lost mine a couple of days ago. It was over the weekend when I was out. It fell face down and when I arrived it was too late. I miss it. Good luck with yours

I had to dip one of mine 3 times before the pinched mantle was gone completely. I did it for 30 min about every two days ( not a set time, just when the rest of the mantle looked normal). The other clams I have that had a pinch only took 1 or two dips. I do have a new clam that wasn't opened up fully in the pet store, but is now, it was being picked on by a damsel. I had to move one of the clams in my tank because it was in a spot where my eyelash blennie liked to sit and wouldn't open up all the way because of the constant contact from the fish. hope something here helps

    good luck

    Thanks for the advice

Nothing is picking on it and it has always been in the same spot in the tank usually happy except the last couple of weeks. I will try dipping him ever other day till he gets better maybe I can try and post a pic tomarro.
