Default health of new purple firefish

I purchased yesterday about 3 oclock a purple firefish, who seemed fine at the store. In my tank however he was swimming head down a lot, today he is hding a great deal (understandable) but also swimming head up, like a dolphin. I recall that my other firefish behaved funny the first few days too...however I am curious to know if this is some behaviour firefish exhibit or should I be worried?

As soon as the store opens at 12 I am calling them for advice.

    Thank you, V2k

I've never seen my firefish doing this... :unsure
Two questions - 1.) What are the water parameters in your tank (incl. salinity, temp. PH, ammonia, nitrites, etc...) 2.) How long did you drip acclimate the fish, and how much of a difference was there in the salinity between the bag water and your tank?

    Ahhh...OK
Is this the same firefish, or did they have two? Sounds like the one laying on the bottom is a gonner :(

hmmm... you said you just bought him, so i would give him a few days to get used to everything. im sure he is very stressed, or it coul have been a diseased fish from the store...

I'm guessing this is the same one. Why did you put it in if the water wasn't right? I thought you had it for a while.

By the way, I am not trying to put you down. I am just wondering if a LFS gave you bad advice, or you just didn't know any better. Which LFS are you getting the advice from?

Please little fish, forgive my ignorance,.

I don't know what a n LFS is but I presume you mean the marine shop. I could blame their incorrect advice, but I cannot also avoid my own lack of judgment. I plead being new to this. I do have one firefish which is happy and have had for a couple of months, so I thought I would know how to care for another. Next time I buy a fish, I promise the water will be perfect and it will be the only livestock I purchase so that I can concentrate my efforts on drip acclimatizing it. Poor little fish, I ask its forgiveness.
