    Default Cleaning Live Rock

I am going to manually remove all the algea ( I HOPE) from my live rock. My questions is do I have to use salted water or can I do the scrubbing in reg RO/DI water?

I am doing this then putting the rock into a fresh system that I have just set up. Anyother suggestions I might try to limit the transfere of this algea to my new system?

If you want it to stay live use salt water.
