I am starting a new tank a 10 gallon nano reef. The equipment I am using is a hang-on penguin dual BIO-Wheel, a 40 W Sattellite. Any suggestions to other equipment needed like a protien Skimmer or such!

What do you plan to keep in this tank?
Of coarse live sand, live rock, a Sally light foot crab. Start with some mushrooms and stony polyps and cabbagge coral all the more hardy soft corals. And possibly one fish something that can feed in things in the tank such a algaes, sand but large enough that the sally light foot can't catch. The Sally light foot has become a nusicance in my 55 gallon eating some of my small fish.
On a nano, I would suggest frequent, large water changes instead of a lot of filtration equipment.
A weekly 15-20% water change will help a lot.

125 SPS, 75 gal. LPS/softie reef, 9 gal. Nano
I change out 5 gal. a week in my 29. I have never had a skimmer on this tank. Keep the fish load light. I run a charcoal filter every other week to keep my brains happy. I try to follow a rule of 1 lb of live rock for every gal. of water min. for the bio load. Good luck and enjoy
So is good to run a hang-on bio wheel filter all the time or best to run just a power head?
