Does another have any home remedies for removing caroline algae from a tank that was drained. The algae has turned white and is very hard. I've broken 2 razor blades and haven't even made a dent :wacko. Will a water/vinegar soaking help?

It should be easier when its white. Its dead. A razor blade should do the trick...I dont see how they would break..
Soak it in some vinegar.

Vinegar will do the trick. Then just use a scrubbie to remove what is left over.

Vinegar will work. I usually use muratic acid, it's much faster. Just don't inhale when you pour it in...that hurts a bit.
Another vote for Muratic Acid, but if you have never services swimming pools or learned how to use it otherwise, be prepared for some stinging lungs >_<
Here is a little comparison (IMO):
If vinegar takes 10 min to remove calcium
Hot (boiling) vinegar takes 4 min
Muratic Acid takes about 10 secs![]()
Oh by they way, it burns the ^%&^#$ out of your skin too!
