Default mixing times on kalk reactors

I am wanting to get a survey on how often? What time of day? For how long people are mixing their kalk in their reactors.

right now I am mixing twice a day for about 5 minutes in my own 15 gallon home made kalk reactor.
Dripping about 3 gallons a day, when my topoff need is about 6 gallons a day.

I am dripping clear fluid 24/7, except obviously when is being stirred....

just wondering what others are doing.

    thanks for the input.....

Mike, I mix calc into my top off resovoir. I stir it (vigorously, MAG7) for one hour at about 6:00pm during which time the top off controller is turned off, and remains off for another 2 hours for the kalk to settle. All my top off requirements are replaced with Kalk water.

This will all soon change - Pete is building me a new reactor and I have built a new controller for mix/dose times.

With the new one, the topoff controller will simply open a solenoid which will turn on the RO/DI connected to the input side of Kalk reactor, which will force the same volume/rate of Kalk water into the sump for topoff volume. When the topoff controller isn't on, the kalk will be being mixed with a small maxijet. The new Kalk reactor will be 6" Dia, and about 32" tall.

Mine works automatically, but I would stir it once or twice a day if it didn't.

You really dont want to stir much during the day for Ph reasons, you should encourage evaporation during the night when Ph is low to counter the higher daytime Ph. I mix for 15 minutes one hour before lights off and settle for 2 hours, then once again about 3 hours before lights on... Its mostly trial and error untill you get the correct timing to satisfy your particular tanks requirements... Youll also need to get your Ca and Alk where you want them before adding kalk to maintain the levels.

Thats all you need once the water is saturated its saturated. Then the remainder falls to the bottom.

Once the sturated effluent is delivered to the tank, any remaining effluent will be mostly ro water unless its mixed and allowed to settle again.

That's why I have Pete building me something different. With the volume of topOff I have, the effluent is dilluted with new RO/DI below PH=10 if I don't re-mix. The new one will keep it stable ... I hope?
