Default Protien skimmer on the fritz..

I just got a jebo protien skimmer with a 527 gph pump...the problem is that there are too many bubbles... :unsure...the foam is really watery and it fills the collection cup in about 48 seconds. I boosted the air intake and lowered the power as much as I could but still nothing. I contacted the seller and he said it would take time. I don't think this is somthing that will just go away. any suggestions?

ps I know I accidently posted it in DIY section..srry :(

Perhaps some skimmers work differently than others, but if my skimmate is too watery like that I decrease the air intake, not increase it. More air makes more fast watery skimmate, less air makes more slower producing more solid skimmate.

Thanks for the reply I will try that...I noticed it but the guy that sold it to me said that I needed to increase it. If it can't be fixed soon I think I am going to just return it.

    thanks again

You don't want to much air. The bubble size is critical in tuning a skimmer. You want very small bubbles. More air = larger bubbles. I agree with cutting back the air.

It was a little strange because it was half american half chinese and then a lot of mispellings. Then it smelled like firecrakers. I was kinda scared to plug it in.. :blink...but the air flow is at its lowest so I took an old misting system apart and used one of those hopefully that will work. thanks again.

I use a little plastic .29 air valve like you use to regulate air in a FW system. I place this on the end of the air tubing going to the eductor. You can the air back to zero that way if have to. Just make small adjustments until you get it dialed in. Its a pain, but that's what seems to work best.
