Cabella's store in Buda

I have been doing some work in the store and also drive past it all the time, but for people who don't know and are big outdoors people, Cabella's built a huge showroom in Buda, just a few miles south of Austin. Some may have noticed all the billboards they have put up here in S.A. recently. If you are into hunting, fishing, camping, and things like that, this is a must see store. Besides being a really cool building with lots of natural woodwork, they have a huge mountain built inside with running waterfalls, a large freshwater aquarium area with catfish and bass, a safari room with lifesize elephant and rhino, another huge room filled with all kinds of taxidermy on rockscapes, an archery range, a restuarant/deli area, and even a full-size airplane hanging from the ceiling. I heard they brought in over $3 million in taxidermy alone and just seeing all of it makes the trip worth it. I was there when they unloaded the elephant from the 18-wheeler! lol

I believe they are opening up at the very end of this month and I'm sure they will have some really cool grand opening events planned so keep an eye out.

We will also have a Bass Pro Shops by mid next year. Last time I was in a Cabella's store, I stayed so long I missed my flight. Awesome store.

I heard they opened on Memorial Day. Was I misinformed? We were thinking of going up there this week.

Never mind, I just checked their website and they are showing an opening date of 6/30.

Don't want to hurt anybodies feelings but the last one they openned, 400,000 people showed up for the grand opening. Good luck on getting in. I am glad they are openning a store close bye. The place is awesome. I think I will wait a week or two to try to get in?

Yea, I wasn't planning on going on opening day. It will be a zoo. I'm allergic to crowds.

i would like to go on opening day but unlike gary i am not allergic to crowds just the IDIOTS that make up the crowds.

Yeah, the Cabella's is not opened just yet, getting close though. The Bass Pro Shop they are going to build here in S.A. is supposed to be their largest one yet. I'm not sure how set they are on the opening date of it though, they still haven't done much other than push dirt around out at the quarry so far. I worked on the one at Katy Mills Mall outside of Houston and that one was pretty neat inside as well.
