Photography Contest

In addition to the TOTM contest, why don't we do a photography contest as well. We could even do a specific category each month (night, fish, sps coral, lps coral, zoos, weird/unusual and so forth).

Actually, I do have a camera and am still trying to figure it out. I think I would be more likely posting a picture in this type of contest than submitting my tanks. I think a lot of others may feel the same way, hence the question/suggestion.

That idea has come up before, but its tough enough getting members to submit for TOTM!!

A single picture might/would be easier to get submitted than the entire process of TOTM. Not that TOTM is complicated, but it would clearly take less time to submit a single pic. It would also be a good way to get a list of users that have cameras and tanks so you could solicit them to enter a submission for TOTM.

Im in for several pic submissions... but then again, Im also in for the TOTM now that I'm a charter member. I just have to put a few things together and I'll submit

I thought we already had this..... Must be thinking of a different site.. Did a theme every month so was not just a the random lucky ***** shot. Like October was something orange Nov was fat as a turkey Dec red & green etc. etc. Then was posted as a poll so everyone could vote and the winner got..... Hmm don't remember that part. Guess I never won :blush

I dont think TOTM is a contest at all... at least thats my understanding. Its a showcase of someones entire system (tank, livestock, corals, lights, filltration, maintenance routine...)

I think Polkster was suggesting an actual contest each month for a single photo (maybe based on a theme). I was thinking it would be a really easy, fun thing for everyone that takes pics of their tank to submit too. As another benefit the TOTM project leader would get a list of users that they could send emails to to build the TOTM submissions, which I hear is a real problem.

I dont think prizes would even be nesseccary... just a chance to have one of my photos featured on the site would be enough for me. I like taking pics anyway!!!
